What is Copyright?

In simple terms Copyright protects an expression of idea and not idea per se. It is a right given by law to creators of literary works such as books, dramatic works such as dramas, musical works such as compositions, artistic works such as paintings & sculptures and producers of cinematograph films and sound recordings.

Copyright in India is detined as per Section 13(1) of the Copyright Act, 1957, copyright shall subsist throughout India in the following classes of works, that is to say,-original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works; cinematograph films; and 1{sound recording]. 1[sound recording].”
