Bouncing of cheque attracts criminal prosecution under Section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act ,1881. A notice has to be issued within a period of 30 days from the date of return of the cheque. In case the drawer fails to make the payment of the cheque within 15 days of receipt of legal notice a criminal complaint can be filed against him in the appropriate Court of law.
